KTM just announced its 2017 new-model line up, a full 17 different models (and this doesn’t count their minis!). The big news that covers all of the models is new suspension. The SX, SX-F, XC, and XC-F line all get the WP AER air-spring fork. This is the fork that came on the 2016 Factory Editions models, and our time on it tells us this is a good switch for these models. These AER-equipped models also get new shock valving and all are spec’d with a softer shock spring. For the non-air forked 2017 KTMs, they will get new a WP Xplor fork and Xplor shock.

For 2017, KTM’s enduro range gets its biggest overhaul since 2012. The bikes are lighter and more rideable, and the all-new two-strokes are revolutionary! “Righto, Wigan, what are they like? The list of upgrades to these 2017 EXCs is so bloody long, I’m bamboozled. You’ve ridden them, so just give me a top-line summary of how the things ride compared with the 2016s, and let me know whether I ought to be buying one.”

There is a lot of news for KTM in the 2017 model release specifically in the new 250/300cc two-stroke and in all of the XC-W and EXC-F range. As we speculated when we saw the 2016 bikes, we knew an all-new 250cc bike would be coming. And it is here along with a 300cc companion in XC and XC-W versions. Going forward there are no more Green Sticker KTM bikes as all EXC-F four strokes are street legal and XC-W two-strokes are competition bikes. There will also be some new displacement sizes, specifically a 250cc EXC-F to go along with the 500cc and 350cc versions. We had heard rumors of a 450cc EXC-F but no information was provided about that displacement for sale in the USA. Missing is the 200cc two-stroke size as KTM has leveraged the 150cc into XC-W form for off-road racing.
